Flutist Cheng-Yu Wu asked me to make a solo work based on a Chinese text. Clearing is a musical association based on the poem "Deer Enclosure" written by the Tang Dynasty poet Chinese Wang Wei (701 - 761). The moment described could have lasted a second or several hours. Experience the natural beauty and simplicity, while people are never far away.
Deer Enclosure
Not a soul is seen in the empty mountain,
but I hear people’s voices echoes.
Sunlight sneaks through the dense wood,
and the green moss glows.
